The WeeCare Soft diaper
A fitted cloth diaper
WeeCare Soft is what is called a “fitted” diaper. It means that the diaper has no waterproof layer built in, and therefore it needs a kind of cover to be waterproof. Some parents use the WeeCare Easy cover in addition to the WeeCare Soft diaper, but it is not really made for that.
We recommend using a pair of lanolin-treated woolen diaper pants.
A bamboo diaper
WeeCare Soft is also a bamboo diaper. This means that it consists primarily of bamboo fibers, which is a sustainable material. The bamboo fabric used in WeeCare Soft is bamboo velour, which is extremely soft!! It consists of 55 % bamboo fibers, 25 % cotton and 20 % polyester. The 20 % polyester makes the fabric strong even though it is thin. The bamboo fabric does not feel as wet as, for example, pure cotton does.
A pocket diaper and perfect for newborns!
WeeCare Soft is, besides being a fitted diaper, also a pocked diaper. It has a pocket hole at the back where you can place the absorbent insert. The pocket system make sure to give the child the least possible edges against the skin. This means that with WeeCare Soft your child has only the softest bamboo velour touching the skin and no rough edges from the insert can irritate the baby’s skin. This is why it is especially perfect for newborns, which are initially small and fragile and which can easily get red marks on the skin. In other words, WeeCare Soft is a perfect diaper for your newborn baby! With a thin woolen diaper cover in addition, you have a cloth diaper solution that is 100 % breathable, because the woolen cover make up the waterproof layer and not a waterproof plastic layer.
WeeCare Soft has really good elastics in both legs and back and holds very well on the stools – especially the newborn kind 😉
Wollen diaper covers
A woolen diaper cover works well with fitted diapers in general. The woolen diaper cover can hold well on liquid from a diaper if it has gone through a lanolin treatment. Some parents are choosing not to use wool, because it needs special treatment. And yes it does take a little more effort to learn how to do it. On the other hand, wool does not need to be washed very often, as it is self-cleaning. It should only be washed if is smelling bad (of pee) and if the smell does not go away after the wool has hung to dry (preferably in the fresh air).
If you know how to knit, (or if you know someone who does), you can make wool covers yourself. Just be sure to use 100 % pure wool that has not gone through any (superwash) treatment. Here is a good knitting recipes for woolen diaper covers.
